Know About Drug Interactions and Contraindications of Provigil Modafinil Medication
Your doctor should be informed about any prescription or over-the-counter medicines you are currently taking that may interact with Provigil (Modafinil). Drug Interactions
Some medicines may interact with Provigil. Tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following:
Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription medication you may use, especially of: MAO inhibitors (e.g., furazolidone, linezolid, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, selegiline), seizure medications (e.g., phenytoin, phenobarbital, carbamazepine), tricyclic antidepressants (e.g., amitriptyline, clomipramine), "blood thinners" (e.g., warfarin), azole antifungals (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole), rifamycins (e.g., rifampin, rifabutin), cyclosporine, diazepam, theophylline, propranolol. This medication may interfere with the effectiveness of hormone-type birth control. Discuss using other methods of birth control with your doctor. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
Contraindication
Provigil (Modafinil) is contraindicated in several medical conditions. It is contraindicated in patients who are allergic to the medication or other ingredients of the tablets. Adults with history of cardiovascular problems, especially while using other stimulants should not use Modafinil. It is also contraindicated in people with cirrhosis, or cardiac conditions such as left ventricular hypertrophy or mitral valve prolapse.

Missed Dose
Take the missed dose the moment you remember, but avoid taking the medication if you don’t have planning to be wakeful for several hours. If it is close to your normal bedtime hour, skip the missed dose and wait until the next day to take the medicine again. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
Overdose
Contact your doctor immediately if you think you have taken too much of this medicine. Overdose may cause confusion, trouble sleeping, nausea, or diarrhea.

Provigil (Modafinil) coupled with CPAP machine offers the best treatment option for your condition of excessive sleepiness. Don’t stop using the machine during sleep without consulting your healthcare provider. You cannot get rid of obstructive sleep apnea or treat its fundamental reasons by simply using Provigil. Comply with your doctor’s guidelines about all other treatment alternatives for this ailment.
