Safety Information Associated with Provigil Modafinil
Provigil is a wakefulness-promoting agent. It works by altering the natural chemicals (neurotransmitters) in the brain.
Provigil Modafinil can be effective, if used with much attention to its safety aspects.
- Keep away from drinking alcohol or using medicines that may cause drowsiness (e.g., sleep aids, muscle relaxers) while you are using Provigil. Since it may add to their effects. Ask your pharmacist if you have questions about which medicines may cause drowsiness.
- Provigil cannot heal sleep disorders and it may not stop all of your drowsiness. Do not modify your daily habits without first talking to your doctor. Talk about your level of sleepiness with your doctor at each appointment. Do not use it instead of getting enough sleep. Follow your doctor's directions for good sleep habits and using other medications.
- Provigil may lead to dizziness or blurred vision. These effects may aggravate if you take it with alcohol or certain medicines. Use this drug with caution. Do not drive or carry out other possibly unsafe works while taking it.
- Only using hormonal birth control (e.g., birth control medicine) may not be effective while you are using Provigil. To avoid pregnancy, use an extra form of birth control (e.g., condoms) while you are taking Provigil and for 1 month after stopping Provigil.
- Test your blood pressure, while you use it to monitor your condition or check for side effects. Don’t miss any lab appointments.
- Use this drug with caution in the elderly. They may be more susceptible to its effects.
- Allow extreme caution while administering this drug in children younger than 16 years old. It is unknown if it is safe using in them.
- If you become pregnant, get in touch with your doctor. Talk about the benefits and risks of using this drug while you are pregnant. It is not known if this medication is found in breast milk. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you use this medicine, check with your doctor. Discuss any possible risks to your baby.
- Some people who use Provigil Modafinil for a long time may grow a tendency to continue taking it. People who take high doses are also at risk. This is known as dependence or addiction.
- Do not stop taking Provigil suddenly. If you do so, you may have withdrawal symptoms. These may include sleepiness. Confer any questions or concerns with your doctor or pharmacist.
- Notify your doctor if you have: history of mental health problems (including psychosis), heart problems or had a heart attack, high blood pressure, liver or kidney problems, a history of drug or alcohol abuse or addiction, or are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
